Clearwater Knee Pain Treatment
Here to Help with Acute & Chronic Knee Pain
Knee pain is a common complaint and can affect people of all ages. It can be caused by a sudden traumatic event, an overuse injury, or by an underlying condition, such as arthritis. Symptoms of knee injury can include pain, swelling, and stiffness and the treatments vary depending on the cause.
Knee pain may occur in the:
- Knee cap
- Inner or outer areas of the knee
- Knee joint – including a feeling of “locking” in the joint
Many types of minor knee pain respond well to self-management. Physical therapy and bracing are effective treatment options but in some cases, your knee may require surgical repair.

Conditions That Cause Knee Pain
Numerous conditions can cause knee pain. They are usually caused by injury or wear-and-tear on the joint. Many of these conditions can be treated with conservative treatments like physical therapy and medication, but some of the more severe problems may require surgery.
Common causes of knee pain include:
- Trauma resulting in ligament damage and tears
- Meniscus or cartilaginous tears
- Bursitis/tendonitis and ligament strain or overuse
- Patellar tendonitis
- Arthritis of the knee joint or the patellar joint
- Fractures or dislocations of the knee joint
- Loose bodies in the knee joint
- Auto-immune or inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout etc.
Knee Pain Treatment Options
We perform a detailed evaluation and diagnosis to identify the cause of the problem. This may include x-rays, MRIs, and arthroscopy which also allows us to do ligament and cartilage repairs with quick recovery. We provide specialized physical therapy, education, bracing and splinting as needed.
When appropriate, we provide stem cells therapy, shots and regenerative treatments to the knee joint to provide extensive pain relief and restore knee function and activity.
Surgery is our last resort, but if necessary we do partial and total knee replacement surgery to restore full knee function. We perform knee resurfacing procedures as well as meniscal transplants. Our surgeons are certified in sports orthopedics and provide extensive acute care management and rehabilitation for sports injuries.
